MAILBOX NEWS Most of you have already heard that we are going to install cluster mailboxes for the residents of Island Green South. It has been a lengthy process to get post office approval, find a contractor, order boxes and plan for the transition. We now have more complete information so are forwarding that info to you and hopefully answer any questions you may have.  1. The new boxes will be located under a shelter that is being built on the vacant lot next to pool 2. You will be assigned a box and given 3 keys to your mailbox. The HOA will not keep any keys. You will need to contact the post office to get the lock changed if you should lose all your keys.  2. Your address will be your street address. We will finally eliminate the problems associated with two separate addresses. The boxes will be numbered numerically but the mail delivery person will be able to see the street addresses when she/he opens the main cover. Each mail slot with have a street address.  3. There will be 2 large parcel boxes for every 20 individual mailboxes. They will have a key capturing lock. If you find a key in your mailbox you will unlock the box associated with that key. The key will stay in the lock once the box is opened and only the mail person will be able to remove it. Some of you were worried about vandals taking the keys, but that won't be possible.  4. If you receive a package that doesn't fit in the parcel boxes, or is too large for them, your package will be delivered to your door. That's another advantage of only having one address.  5. You should plan to continue to receive your mail at the amenity center or post office for the next couple of months. We anticipate having everything installed well before the Aug. 31 deadline set for the short-term rental at the amenity center.  6. You should not complete a change of address or forwarding order until you have your mailbox keys. The post office is working closely with us and are aware of all of the new addresses they will be getting for Island Green South. We will provide you with change of address forms with your keys. You can also pick them up at the post office or complete them online.  7. If we have unforeseen delays and pass the deadline set by the amenity center, the post office will hold your mail at the Socastee facility for pick up. However, we are confident that we will meet that deadline.  We will post updates to the bulletin board and website as they occur. You are also welcome to reach out to me should you have any questions. Just to be clear, every address will now have a mailbox associated with that address, and every owner will receive keys to that mailbox.
